Wow, today I learned (from the fifth picture's description) that the Japanese society of the time was not very different than that of what I know of the ancient Greeks, in terms of how men sexually abused boys and young men, as a societally accepted developmental progression.

Alexander and Hirohito seem like different versions of the same apotheosis of such cultures, looks to me.

Selfishness in a person's greed for sexual pleasure is not a positive force in a society, not for anyone; in fact, it is purely destructive. People -- especially men -- must learn to control themselves. No one should be forced or coerced into serving another person's sexual desires.

And, no, no young person should be raised to be the object of another person's sexual gratification. We must raise our children under the roof of compassion for them, to cultivate their emotional and intellectual and spiritual development, so that they become empathetic, positive members of society.

Part of the resulting adulthood is, for most folks, being in a mutually beneficial intimate relationship of their own choosing. That is the best outcome for society, on both an emotional and physical level. The physical level relating to disease spread is a real element of our human reality.

And however bad it was for those young men, I'm pretty sure it was far worse for women of all ages. Such is the lowness of so many, many men, especially when under the influence of alcohol, which is nothing less than a pox upon humanity.
