When, a few days ago, there was an article in the NYT claiming that there has not been a significant increase in the incidence of autism, but rather just improved diagnosis in the medical community, I was quite skeptical. It just seemed not to jive with my lived experience.
On the other hand, I can easily believe that the perceived increase in natural disasters IS a consequence of improved reporting.
