How many gamers today know that you used to be able to buy a PC game from a store and that would be the end of the transaction, the store didn't have a middleman software platform you'd have to go through even for an offline game?
And then when you were finished with the game you could trade or resell it.

future generations “won’t even know this looks ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’ because to them it’ll be normal.”
Grandpa rant:
This happens with lots of things both big and small.
Privacy invasion for example.
And spaghetti sauce. Yes, spaghetti sauce. Kids raised on Prego and Ragu think that spaghetti sauce should be loaded with sugar. Anything without it is just "bad" to them.
