A bit later though:&gt; LLMs are late additions to Palantir’s ecosystem;they were added in late 2024, years after the core system was operational, “AIP” was added as a natural language layer that summarizes documents or constructs and answers queries.So LLMs are now a part of these systems, even if it sounds like they aren&#x27;t directly involved in targeting yet.

I haven’t touched a Palantir system since 2008 (and I still feel dirty) so I’m not the most read up on this: but Maven is just the harness or workflow tool. It still needs an LLM to evaluate data, and they used Anthropic for the kickoff of this war.

The key part to me:&gt; Congress wrote to the Secretary of Defense about the extent of AI use in the strikes. The New Yorker asked whether Claude could be trusted to obey orders in combat, whether it might resort to blackmail as a self-preservation strategy, and whether the Pentagon’s chief concern should be that the chatbot had a personality. Almost none of this had any relationship to reality. The targeting for Operation Epic Fury ran on a system called Maven. Nobody was arguing about Maven.

One of the few things I&#x27;ve read that gives me hope for our species. Man, what a relief.
