Probably because there have been lots and lots of news stories about adults leaving keys in the car and children sitting in the driver's seat and accidentally crashing them, since there's no on button.

So what the hell do they do this for? So you own a car that analyzes your face? Why? Can't we just be left alone? Also, all efforts in this direction set the step-stone to mass-surveillance. But whatever, tech doesn't care about the privacy of people.
